Community Outreach

The members of CVEA are constantly looking for ways to give to our community. First and foremost, our goal is to help our students in and out of the classroom, but the community extends further than just our students. The various activities that our members participate in are extremely generous. This is not an exhaustive list of activities.

  • Many schools are involved with:
  • The Polar Plunge: Teachers raise money and run through the icy Susquehanna River. The proceeds help the Special Olympics.
  • Dress Down Days: Teachers pay a minimum of $2 to dress down on certain Fridays and the proceeds help various charities and local families in need.
  • Read Across America: Now in its fourteenth year, this year-round program focuses on motivating children and teens to read through events, partnerships, and reading resources. The celebration takes place each year on or near March 2, the birthday of Dr. Seuss. (February 26, 2010)
